RANDALLSTOWN, MD – A Randallstown man who was inspired by license plate numbers has won a $50,000 Pick 5 prize. The 46-year-old, who works for a utility company, decided to pause his morning routine of visiting a nearby Lottery retailer to buy tickets before going to work.

However, he was struck by inspiration from his license plate numbers and decided to resume his routine and began playing those numbers in Pick 5 games.

He visited the New Beltway Shell, situated at 5932 Baltimore National Pike in Baltimore, and placed his $2, two-draw bet on the April 13 midday and evening drawings. After an hour of the midday drawing, he checked the Lottery app for the Pick 5 winning numbers and was surprised to learn that he had won the $50,000 prize.

The Randallstown man immediately called his wife and father to share the news. His wife initially thought he was playing an April Fools’ Day prank. He plans to use some of the prize money to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary and vow renewal event.

The New Beltway Shell also benefits from the win as the gas station will receive a $500 bonus for selling the $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket.
