Burglar hits three homes in Cranford, police warn residents

CRANFORD, NJ – Police in Cranford are warning residents of multiple residential burglaries overnight on Saturday.

Police were first notified of a burglary on the 200 Block of Cranford Avenue, where a resident reported hearing a loud noise between 9 PM and 10 PM.

The victim discovered damage to a rear kitchen window and screen, indicating that someone had gained entry into the residence.

Another report of a burglary on the 100 Block of Locust Drive was made that night.

The investigating officers confirmed that the suspects entered the house through a door that had been pried open. However, no theft occurred at the location.

In a third break-in, police responded to the first block of Van Buren Avenue on a report of criminal mischief to a rear door, where they confirmed that an attempted burglary had occurred.

All three incidents took place between 9 PM and 10 PM.

Two of the reported burglaries involved homes that were occupied by at least one resident at the time of the break-ins.

Police have identified a white SUV as a vehicle of interest associated with all three events.
