NEWARK, NJ – Clarence Gaffney, a 36-year-old man from Hudson County, New Jersey, has been sentenced on Friday to 240 months in prison for possessing a loaded firearm and intending to distribute controlled substances on three separate occasions.

Gaffney was convicted on October 26, 2022, following a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton in Newark federal court on three counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Gaffney had possessed heroin, cocaine, and a loaded firearm on three different occasions, which led to his conviction. As part of his sentencing, Gaffney will also be subject to a period of supervised release following his imprisonment.
