DOVER, DE – Christopher Harris, a 44-year-old man from Cheswold, Delaware, was arrested on Sunday afternoon for felony DUI following a traffic stop in Dover.

A trooper on patrol observed Harris driving a silver Dodge Ram erratically on South Dupont Highway near Walnut Shade Road. The trooper stopped Harris after witnessing him swerve on the road, cross lane lines multiple times, and change lanes without using a turn signal.

Upon stopping the vehicle and contacting Harris, the trooper smelled alcohol on his breath, observed signs of impairment, and saw open alcoholic drinks in the truck. Harris was subsequently taken into custody for DUI.

Computer checks revealed that Harris’ driver’s license was suspended and that he had eight prior convictions for DUI.

Harris was transported to Troop 3 and charged with 7th Offense or Greater DUI and numerous traffic offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $21,007 cash bond.
