SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, together with the Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police, has announced a 5-day “Police Youth Week”. This initiative, organized by the Somerset County Police Academy, aims to expose high school students to a career in law enforcement and foster positive interactions between students and the law enforcement community.

The program will run from July 24 to 28, 2023, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, hosted at the Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy. Instruction will be offered by the Police Academy staff and officers from local participating departments. The program’s sponsorships extend to the Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Police Youth Week” will provide students with an overview of the criminal justice field through both classroom and hands-on experiences. The organizers have stressed the importance of this community-building endeavor and as such, will not charge participants for the program.
