Former Toms RIver Art Teacher Found Guilty of Multiple Sexual Assault Charges

Toms River, NJ – Raymond Waters, a 71-year-old man from Pawlet, Vermont, has been found guilty of five counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault and thirteen counts of Sexual Assault. The verdict was delivered on Wednesday, after a three-week jury trial before the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, P.J.Cr.P.

The jury found that between September 2002 and September 2004, Waters sexually assaulted a minor at multiple locations across Toms River Township, Barnegat Township, and Hillsborough Township (Somerset County). The victim first reported the assaults in January 2014.

Waters, who was the victim’s art teacher at Toms River High School North at the time of the assaults, has been remanded to the Ocean County Jail. Sentencing is yet to be determined.
