Queens Man Attacks Two with Baseball Bat; Faces Attempted Murder Charges

QUEENS, NY – Matthew Lloyd, 36, of Astoria, was charged with attempted murder and assault after allegedly attacking two men with a metal baseball bat while on a skateboard.

The incidents occurred on Saturday, with Lloyd being arraigned on Monday.

Around 6:10 p.m., Lloyd attacked Jamal Bermudez, 46, near the intersection of 19th Street and Ditmars Boulevard.

Minutes later, Lloyd assaulted 79-year-old Massalis Hristos, resulting in severe injuries that required surgery. Lloyd was arrested less than an hour later in possession of the bat and skateboard.

Queens Criminal Court Judge Anthony Battisti has set Lloyd’s next court appearance for August 25. If convicted of attempted murder, Lloyd could face up to 25 years in prison.
