High Speed Police Chase Ends with Seizure of Guns and Drugs

HURLOCK, MD – On Sunday, at approximately 11:57 pm, officers from the Cambridge Police Department attempted to stop a Dodge Magnum with Virginia registration in the 1000 block of Race St. for a traffic violation.

Jamar Lee Person, 23 years old, failed to comply and engaged in reckless driving before being apprehended at Maryland Ave and Hayward St.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a loaded Ruger handgun in a satchel next to the driver’s seat. Additionally, a substantial quantity of both Powder Cocaine and Crack Cocaine was discovered. Further investigations revealed that Person is legally prohibited from owning a firearm.

Person was subsequently transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing and an initial court appearance. He was denied bond and is currently held at the Dorchester County Department of Corrections. Person faces an extensive list of charges, including firearm and drug offenses, as well as reckless and negligent driving among other traffic-related offenses.
