Rise in Overdose Deaths in Virginia Beach Linked to Laced Cocaine

by Jeff Jones

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Virginia Beach Police Department has reported an unusual surge in overdose deaths this past weekend.

Three deaths involved crack cocaine, leading to the possibility that the substance might have been laced with a stronger compound. This comes as part of a broader trend in August, with 33 reported overdoses in Virginia Beach, eight of which were fatal.

Most notably, 24 of these reported overdoses have occurred since August 16th. The police department is committed to raising awareness about the dangers of drug misuse in cooperation with community partners. Their aim is to combat this overdose crisis and save lives.

Community members are advised to exercise extreme caution and to seek immediate medical attention if they suspect an overdose.

Anyone with information or concerns is asked to reach out to the Virginia Beach Police Department to aid in their ongoing investigations.
