Newark Man Sought for Questioning in Plumbing Tool Burglary

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Thomas Matthews, a 37-year-old Newark resident. Matthews is wanted for questioning related to a burglary that took place last Wednesday, August 23.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue following a burglary report.

The victim stated that an unknown male had entered the unlocked garage and stolen plumbing tools, a music box speaker, and a large broom. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $450.

Detectives are currently seeking Matthews for questioning in connection with this incident. He is described as 5’11” tall, weighing 150 pounds, and has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.
