HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – An incident unfolded at Hempfield Area Senior High School on Monday, when two 15-year-old male students were discovered in possession of loaded handguns.

Alert students reported suspicious exchanges involving firearms, prompting action from school administrators and triggering a lockdown of the school premises.

Further investigations disclosed that one student initially brought both handguns, a .380 caliber and a .22 caliber firearm, onboard a school bus.

Subsequent exchanges of the weapons between three students occurred, once on the bus and again within a school restroom. While these interactions were witnessed and reported, all three involved students are currently detained and under investigation.

Though current findings do not indicate plans for an attack, Troop A, local law enforcement agencies, and school district administration express gratitude towards the observant students who reported the incident.
