SCOTRUN, PA – On the evening of Friday, the Pocono Township Police Department responded to a call at 186 Lower Scotrun Avenue, reporting a domestic disturbance that escalated to gunshots. Upon their arrival, officers learned that the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Kerroy O. Spence from Mt. Pocono, had already left the scene.
Earlier that evening, a physical altercation had taken place between Spence and a female at a hair salon in Mt. Pocono. The woman fled to the aforementioned address, with Spence following shortly after.
Witnesses report that Spence fired shots from his vehicle and shouted for individuals to exit the residence.
Those inside sought shelter, while one person outside retaliated by firing a single shot towards Spence. Spence returned fire and then made his escape in his vehicle.
The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department later apprehended Spence without any complications. The handgun Spence used during the incident was found discarded on the side of the road.
He now faces multiple charges, including seven counts of Aggravated Assault, Firearms Carried Without a License, Terroristic Threats, Possession of a Weapon, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Simple Assault, Tampering with or Fabricating Evidence, and Harassment. Spence is currently held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, awaiting his arraignment.
