Watch: High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest of Three Teens for Armed Carjacking

Volusia County, FL — A high-speed police chase that originated in Orange County ended in Volusia County with the arrest of three 17-year-olds. The trio had stolen a vehicle from a 59-year-old woman in an armed carjacking incident, prompting a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

“Law enforcement technology confirmed the stolen vehicle was in Deltona,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office stated. Acting on this information, Volusia County deputies set up a position at Epic Theaters, anticipating that the vehicle might try to flee. True to prediction, the car sped off and led authorities on a chase that reached speeds of approximately 113 mph on I-4 eastbound toward Daytona Beach.

In a joint effort involving multiple agencies, the Daytona Beach Police Department successfully deployed a stop stick on Beville Road. Subsequently, Volusia County Deputy Ingram initiated a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver that effectively disabled the fleeing vehicle. “An earlier stop stick hit in Deltona, it turned out, was ineffective,” according to the source.

All three occupants, originally from Orlando, were taken into custody without any injuries. The driver faces multiple charges, including grand theft auto, aggravated fleeing, attempting to elude, and driving without a valid license. A black semi-automatic firearm was also discovered near the scene of the disabled vehicle.

After being apprehended, the three teens were taken to a local hospital for medical clearance before being transferred to the Volusia Family Resource Center. Charges relating to the original armed carjacking in Orange County will be handled by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
