NEW YORK, NY – A critical medical rescue turned tragic on a Manhattan roadway early Sunday when a collision interrupted an ambulance’s urgent dash to the hospital, carrying a 59-year-old heart attack victim. A Dodge Durango collided with the FDNY EMS ambulance at the intersection of 10th Ave. and W. 42nd in Hell’s Kitchen around 4:30 a.m., according to authorities.

The interrupted transit necessitated the dispatch of another ambulance, which ferried the man to Mount Sinai West Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The cause of death is under examination to ascertain if the crash played a part, per police reports.

The impact left the Durango driver and the EMS personnel with minor injuries, as stated by the police. This
