Moped Bandits Snatching Necklaces Around New York City

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has released details of two incidents that took place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, involving victims having their necklaces forcefully stolen.

In the first incident at approximately 4:20 pm, a 41-year-old female was walking opposite of 61-50 Central Avenue when she was approached from behind by two unidentified male individuals on a black moped.

The duo grabbed and ripped off the woman’s necklace, causing her considerable pain and bruising. She declined medical attention at the scene. The stolen pendant is valued at around $200.

Later that day, at about 6:50 pm, a 20-year-old female was seated in her vehicle when two male individuals approached her on a black scooter. One of the men alighted and snatched the necklaces from her neck. Following the theft, the pair sped away. The woman also refused medical assistance. The combined value of the two yellow metal pendants is estimated at $520.

Both suspects are described as males aged between 20 to 25 with a thin build. They were last seen dressed in all-black attire.
