Gunfire Erupts in Downtown Newark, One Injured, No Arrests

NEWARK, NJ – Early Saturday morning, a shooting incident shook the downtown Newark area in the 900 block of Broad Street.

Reports of gunfire around 3:30 a.m. brought an immediate response from Newark Police.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered multiple shell casings and evidence of gunfire damage to several vehicles.

Although initial checks yielded no victims, a subsequent report from University Hospital confirmed one individual seeking treatment for gunshot wounds was reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives are working to determine the shooter’s motive, with the assailant still at large.
