Wall Township Stolen Car Case Leads Back to Newark

by Charlie Dwyer

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Wall Township Police Department responded last night to reports of multiple car burglaries on Pine Road and a stolen vehicle at the WaWa on Highway 34. The stolen vehicle, a 2015 white Lexus 250, was taken while it was left unlocked with the engine running outside the store.

Surveillance footage showed a white sedan pulling up behind the victim’s Lexus. A subject in a tan/yellow hoodie and dark pants then entered and drove away in the Lexus. During the investigation, officers found a backpack belonging to a Pine Road resident and connected the incidents to four individuals operating a white sedan.

The stolen Lexus, equipped with GPS tracking, was later located in Newark. Newark Police Department apprehended a 29-year-old male from Newark in possession of the vehicle and a handgun. Prior to the recovery, the stolen vehicle was used in an armed carjacking involving four subjects, leading to the arrest of one juvenile.

Wall Township Police are collaborating with Newark Police in the ongoing investigation.
