High School South Girls Claim Victory in Group 3 Relay Championships

TOMS RIVER, NJ – At the recent Group 3 Relay Championships, High School South’s girls shot put team clinched a remarkable victory. The event, held on January 14, showcased the talent of junior Julia Santos and freshman Caila Oltmer. Together, they triumphed over a competitive field of over 30 teams.

Caila Oltmer, noted as the top-ranked freshman in Group 3, initiated the team’s success with a throw of 28 feet 5 ½ inches. This impressive performance set a solid foundation for the team.

The defining moment came during the final round. Julia Santos, facing a marginal deficit against their rivals, delivered a crucial throw. Her effort measured at 40 feet 1 ½ inches, marking the second-longest throw statewide. This final throw not only surpassed their closest competitors but also ensured a gold medal for High School South.
