Toms River, NJ – The Toms River Police Department has reported a jewelry theft and a case of check fraud, along with the recovery of stolen vehicles in its latest police blotter update.

A homeowner in Silverton reported on February 12 that jewelry valued at approximately $8,000 was missing from a box on her dresser. The homeowner noted the doors were often left unlocked due to caring for a friend’s dog, allowing multiple people access to the home. No surveillance cameras were installed, and specific names of individuals with access could not be provided.

On the same day, a business representative near Hooper Avenue and Route 571 reported a check fraud incident involving a suspicious $7,400 transaction. The bank halted the transaction before completion, linking the incident to potentially stolen checks from the U.S. Postal Service used in Hamilton Township.

Additionally, police in Newark and Lacey Township have recovered two vehicles reported stolen from Toms River. The vehicle owners have been notified of the recovery.
