Suspect Arrested in Raritan Borough Stabbing Incident

RARITAN BOROUGH, NJ — Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, along with Chief Francisco Roman Jr. of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and Raritan Borough Police Chief Raymond Nolte, announced the arrest of 31-year-old Jose M. Cruz-Guzman. The arrest relates to a stabbing that occurred on Monday, April 1, in Raritan Borough.

Early that morning, at approximately 3:57 AM, Raritan Borough Police responded to a 911 call about a male victim with a stab wound to his hand. Upon arrival, they found the victim, a local resident, who reported being stabbed by Cruz-Guzman following a verbal dispute. The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, treated for his injuries, and later released.

Cruz-Guzman was apprehended later that day in Raritan Borough without incident. He faces charges of 3rd degree aggravated assault, 3rd degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and 4th degree unlawful possession of a weapon. He is currently held at Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
