Havre de Grace, MD – A Harford County man, dubbed “Doc” by his family, fulfilled a childhood prophecy by scoring a $50,000 Pick 5 lottery prize playing his birthday numbers. Playing lottery games since he was 21, “Doc” favors Pick 5 but occasionally buys Powerball and Mega Millions tickets when their jackpots are sizable, having become a Pick 5 fan after winning $15,000 previously.
“Doc” has a ritual where he verbalizes the phrase “I am a winner” every time he plays as part of what he calls a manifestation practice. Last month, on May 1, “Doc” decided to play the digits 01027 for both the midday and evening Pick 5 drawings at Aberdeen’s 607 Food Mart / Sunoco.
Opting to use his family’s birthdays as numbers, the Havre de Grace man, “Doc,” forgot to check his tickets after the evening draw, only remembering to do so the following day. When he called his mother from work, he was surprised to find out that he had won the $50,000 prize. After verifying his win at the Sunoco station, “Doc” plans to save most of the money, make a gesture for his family, and continue playing Pick 5, feeling more motivated than ever to win again. The selling retailer, 607 Food Mart / Sunoco, in Aberdeen will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
