Utica Police Intervene in Street Fight at Oneida Square

UTICA, NY—On Wednesday, Utica Police were called to the Oneida Square area at about 7:00 AM due to a reported altercation between two males. Officers arrived to find one male assaulting another and immediately intervened, issuing commands to cease the attack.

The assailant, identified as 33-year-old Isaiah Ruffin, resisted arrest, prompting police to use a Taser to subdue him. Ruffin was subsequently charged with second-degree assault, as the victim was over 65 years old, and resisting arrest.

The victim, displaying evident physical injuries, was transported to Wynn Hospital for medical treatment.

During the investigation, authorities discovered the altercation began when Ruffin aggressively demanded money from the victim, who refused, leading Ruffin to attack and kick him while he was down.
