WASHINGTON, D.C. – A significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the Petworth neighborhood has resulted in several arrests and federal indictments, as announced by the Metropolitan Police Department. The operation, spearheaded by a joint task force including MPD, DEA, and the FBI’s Washington Field Office, began its investigations in 2022.
On March 13, authorities executed multiple search warrants leading to the arrest of Jermaine Auzurae Horne, Edward Allen Anderson, Roselle Daniel Artis, and Gilberto Paz Madrid. They face charges including conspiracy to distribute substances like fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and buprenorphine. Anderson is facing additional charges related to firearms.
The culmination of the task force’s efforts came on May 15 when Francisco Roche and Tesharia Diggs were indicted on several counts including the distribution of phencyclidine and unlawful firearm possession.
On May 24, following the 15-count indictment, Diggs was arrested, and both ammunition and narcotics were seized. The community has been urged to continue providing any information related to drug trafficking activities.
