Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in West Orange

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A suspect in a recent bank robbery has been arrested following an intensive investigation by the West Orange Police Department. On Wednesday, May 1, at 9:21 AM, police were alerted to a robbery at Ascendia Bank located at 83 Northfield Avenue.

Authorities reported that a masked male entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash and threatening to use a weapon. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound from the scene. Under the leadership of Detective Giovanni Loreto, the West Orange Criminal Investigations Division embarked on a detailed probe that included interviews, extensive video analysis, and surveillance.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Bryant Goodwyn Jr. from East Orange, NJ, was charged with 2nd Degree Robbery. He was apprehended at his residence on June 11 by detectives and confessed to the crime during an interview. Goodwyn has since been detained at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
