Elderly Man Slashed in New York Subway Robbery Attempt

Brooklyn, NY — A 75-year-old man was attacked aboard a southbound “4” train near the Van Siclen Avenue station early Thursday morning, July 25, 2024. According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. when an unidentified assailant approached the elderly victim, demanding money.

The attacker, described as a male with a dark complexion and medium build, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, used a box cutter to slash the victim’s elbow before fleeing the scene on foot. Fortunately, no property was taken from the victim.

The victim sustained minor injuries from the assault and was transported by EMS to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are actively seeking the assailant and have asked anyone with information to come forward to help ensure the safety of other commuters.
