Missing New Jersey Man Who Had Gone Fishing Found Dead

MONTVILLE, N.J. — A 64-year-old man from Montville Township was found dead Sunday evening in a body of water behind an industrial complex on Chapin Road, authorities said. The man, whose name has not been released, had gone fishing earlier in the day in the Pine Brook section of Montville and was reported missing when he did not return home.

Montville Police Chief Andrew Caggiano stated that officers were dispatched to the area after the man was reported missing. Upon arrival, they found his fishing equipment on the shoreline, prompting a search of the surrounding area.

Rescuers located the man in the water at approximately 8:45 p.m. and pulled him to shore, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death remains under investigation, and an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact circumstances.
