ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A 30-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a shots fired incident on November 30, Atlantic City police announced Tuesday.
The incident began around 9:00 p.m. when officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1500 block of C Morris Cain Place. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found evidence of gunfire and determined that a woman had fired a gunshot before fleeing the area. A description of the suspect was distributed to law enforcement.
The following morning, Officers Alex Torres and Francis Malloy located a woman matching the suspect’s description in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue. The suspect, identified as Kasheemah Valentine, attempted to flee on foot, according to police.
During the pursuit, Valentine allegedly removed a handgun from her waistband and discarded it on Atlantic Avenue. Officers recovered the weapon and apprehended Valentine.
Valentine has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a large capacity magazine, resisting arrest, and being a certain person not to possess a weapon. She was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Authorities emphasized that the charges against Valentine are accusations, and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
