BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. — As temperatures plummeted this week, the Brick Township Police Department’s Marine Unit took advantage of the freezing conditions to conduct ice water rescue training, emphasizing preparedness for potential emergencies.

The training, held as part of routine winter readiness, showcased officers practicing rescue techniques in icy water scenarios. The department shared photos of the exercise on social media, highlighting the specialized equipment and teamwork required to respond to such incidents.

In a public reminder accompanying the post, the department cautioned residents against venturing onto frozen bodies of water. “Please do NOT walk or venture out onto the ice,” the department wrote, citing the unpredictability of ice conditions and the risks of falling through.

Officials stressed that public safety remains their top priority, particularly during extreme weather conditions. The department encouraged residents to enjoy the winter season responsibly, avoiding unnecessary risks while appreciating the season’s beauty.
