TRENTON, NJ — The New Jersey Assembly Children, Families and Food Security Committee has advanced a bill that would expand the age limit for residents of pediatric long-term care facilities.
Under Assembly Bill No. 3007, residents as old as 26 could be admitted to pediatric long-term care facilities. Currently, the age cap for these facilities is set at 19 years old.
The committee approved the bill on January 23, 2025. Supporters argue that the measure would provide essential care for young adults who have aged out of pediatric services but still require specialized long-term medical care.
The legislation now moves to the full Assembly for consideration. No timeline has been announced for a vote.
