Elvin J. Ortiz-Vazquez held without bail in Ocean County on child abuse, assault charges

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Elvin J. Ortiz-Vazquez was booked into the Ocean County jail on Wednesday and is being held without bail on multiple charges, including child abuse, aggravated assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Ortiz-Vazquez, 42, was charged under New Jersey statute 9:6-3 for child abuse, cruelty, and neglect, as well as 2C:12-1B(2) for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury, classified as a second-degree offense. Additionally, he faces a third-degree charge under 2C:39-4D for unlawful possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.

Jail records indicate that Ortiz-Vazquez was taken into custody on February 5, 2025, and remains incarcerated under case number W20250001021514. His bond status is listed as no bail, meaning he will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
