PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Four people were wounded in a shooting Tuesday evening in West Philadelphia, prompting an active investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Group.
Police responded around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday to reports of gunfire on the 1200 block of North 42nd Street in the city’s 16th District. When officers arrived, they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds — three adult men and one adult woman.
All four victims were transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment following the shooting. Two of the male victims were taken by emergency medical crews, while the female victim arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle. A third male victim was transported by police.
Authorities have not released the conditions or identities of the victims.

The Philadelphia Police Department said the Shooting Investigation Group is leading the case as detectives work to determine what led to the gunfire.
Investigators have not established a motive and no arrests had been announced as of Tuesday night.
