MIDDLE RIVER, MD – A U.S. Army veteran from Middle River, who served 28 years, has won $100,000 from a Maryland Lottery scratch-off, but displayed little excitement over his windfall. The veteran claimed his prize at the Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on June 5, after winning the top prize in the $10 Gold Rush 7s Multiplier game.
Despite the significant win, the veteran remarked jokingly that he had hoped for a prize with more zeros. Retired and seeking ways to fill his time, he has taken up playing scratch-offs and Racetrax as hobbies. His other interests include paintball, fishing, and motorcycling.
He is currently in the process of purchasing a pickup truck and a three-wheel motorcycle, but noted that the decision on how to use the prize money would be left to his wife of 35 years, whom he affectionately called “my boss.” Reflecting on his extensive travel during his military service, he mentioned he has no current plans for further travel, saying his army days provided enough.
The store where the winning ticket was purchased, Tobacco Quest located at 206 Ballard Avenue, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The Gold Rush 7s Multiplier game still has plenty of prizes available, including seven more top prizes and 30 second-tier prizes of $10,000.
