DUNDALK, MD — A Dundalk couple has struck lottery gold, winning a $50,000 top prize from the Maryland Lottery’s “20X The Cash” scratch-off game. This winning moment comes as a result of their unique teamwork: he buys, she scratches.

The wife recounted how last week her husband gave her money to play their regular lottery numbers and to buy some scratch-offs. She headed to the local BP gas station in Dundalk, purchasing their usual games and several instant tickets, including two “20X The Cash” scratch-offs. Upon returning home, amidst a lively house full of grandkids, she decided to scratch the tickets while relaxing in the yard.

Her anticipation turned to shock when she revealed a “10X” symbol on one of the tickets. Initially thinking she had won $50, she soon realized the actual prize was $50,000. The discovery prompted ecstatic celebration among the family. “I just started screaming,” she shared, recalling how she summoned her daughter and husband to show them the miraculous find.

The couple, who have been together for forty years, visited the Lottery headquarters last week to claim their prize, laughing and sharing memories of their unexpected win. They revealed plans to finally take a vacation, a first in their long marriage, in addition to paying some bills and saving the remainder of their winnings.

The BP gas station, located at 2100 Merritt Boulevard in Baltimore County, where the winning ticket was purchased, will also celebrate with a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize scratch-off.
