Fire destroys single-family home in queen anne's county

CHURCH HILL, Md. — A fire at a one-story, single-family home on Price Station Road in Church Hill resulted in approximately $55,000 in damages early Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported in the incident, which was first discovered by the homeowner.

The Church Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded to the blaze, which broke out at 12:40 a.m. at 1621 Price Station Road. Twenty-five firefighters were dispatched to the scene, managing to bring the fire under control within 40 minutes.

The fire originated in a void space in the roof above the bathroom, with a branch cable failure identified as the preliminary cause. The structure suffered $35,000 in damage, while the contents were valued at an additional $20,000.

According to officials, no smoke alarms were present in the home at the time of the fire. There were also no fire alarms or sprinkler systems installed. Firefighters have since taken action to address the absence of smoke alarms in the dwelling.

The incident is currently classified as accidental, and no arrests have been made.
