OXON HILL, MD — A Prince George’s County couple is celebrating a $50,000 Maryland Lottery Pick 5 win after playing numbers the wife saw in a dream.
The couple, occasional Pick 5 players, purchased their winning ticket on December 20, 2024, at Zip In Mart in Oxon Hill. The wife said she felt compelled to play the number 99000, which came to her in a dream just a week prior. Following a family tradition, they played the same number on a $1 straight bet and a 50-cent boxed bet.
“We were running late and I almost forgot to play,” the wife recalled. “But I knew we just had to play those numbers from my dream.”
After attending a holiday party that evening, the couple checked their tickets and realized they had won. “My wife showed me, but it didn’t seem real,” the husband said. “But when the Midas touch comes, hopefully, you’re on it and thankfully we were.”
In addition to the $50,000 prize, they also claimed a $5,000 win from their boxed bet in December. The couple, who are grandparents, shared that they had already treated their grandchildren to extra gifts for Christmas but remain undecided on how to use the rest of their winnings.
Zip In Mart, located at 6801 Livingston Road, will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
