Woman found stabbed to death in Southwest Philadelphia; police search for suspect

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A woman was fatally stabbed in Southwest Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, prompting an active investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

Police responded to a call at approximately 3:52 p.m. on the highway near 21xx S 58th Street in the city’s 12th District. Officers found a Black female victim, identified only as “Jane Doe” and believed to be in her late 20s, suffering from a single stab wound to the chest.

The victim was transported by Medic 19 to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:38 p.m.

Authorities confirmed that the weapon involved in the stabbing has been recovered, but no arrests have been made.

The Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and is urging anyone with information to contact detectives at 215-686-3334 or provide anonymous tips via the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477). A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
