Gunman flees through alley after Southeast D.C. shooting, police search underway

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A shooting in the 3800 block of 1st Street, Southeast, sparked a police response Thursday afternoon, as officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District search for a suspect who fled the scene on foot.

Authorities are searching for a Black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, who was last seen running through a rear alley toward Wayne Place, Southeast. The suspect remains at large.

The incident, assigned event number is currently under investigation. Police are urging residents not to intervene.

Anyone who can identify the suspect or has information related to the shooting is asked to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips anonymously to 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in violent crimes.
