GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A major single-vehicle crash on Sicklerville Road Tuesday night led to a multi-agency emergency response and a significant gas leak, according to police.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on May 13, Gloucester Township Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the driver trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters extricated the individual, who was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary findings from the Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT) indicate that the vehicle left the roadway, struck several signs, and collided with the concrete base of the State Highway 42 overpass. It continued along the concrete structure before hitting a South Jersey Gas main, causing a major leak.
Multiple agencies responded to manage the crash, gas leak, and ongoing investigation, including local and county emergency services, the New Jersey State Police, and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. Utility crews from South Jersey Gas and NJDOT also assisted.
Sicklerville Road remains closed from Black Horse Pike to Hickstown Road while repairs are underway. The driver’s identity has not been released, and no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
