Victim hears pop then finds he’s shot on Lauretta Avenue

Baltimore, MD — A 43-year-old man walked into a local hospital Sunday morning with a gunshot wound to the thigh, telling police he was shot while walking along Lauretta Avenue in the city’s Southwest District.

Officers responded to the hospital at approximately 6:45 a.m. after being notified of the walk-in shooting victim. The man told investigators he heard a sudden popping sound while walking in the 1800 block of Lauretta Avenue and realized he had been shot.

The injury was to the victim’s inner thigh. He is currently listed in stable condition, and no life-threatening injuries were reported.

Detectives from the Southwest District Shooting Unit responded and have taken over the investigation. No suspects have been identified, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

Police ask for tips in non-fatal morning shooting

Investigators continue to work to determine whether the shooting was targeted or accidental as they gather evidence and review nearby surveillance.
