McLean teen arrested after admitting to deadly Herndon shooting

Man charged with murder after fatal Herndon shooting, police say

HERNDON, VA — An 18-year-old from McLean has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly admitting to shooting and killing a man Friday night in Herndon, according to police.

At around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to reports of a disorderly individual in the 300 block of Elden Street. Shortly after, Kianmehr Shirinipaziziba called the Herndon Police Department and reported that he had encountered a man in the area and shot him.

When officers arrived, they located the wounded man and provided emergency medical aid until medics arrived. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.

Police say Shirinipaziziba and the victim did not know each other prior to the fatal encounter. Officers arrested Shirinipaziziba at the scene and, following interviews, charged him with second-degree murder.

He is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
