Off-duty NYPD officer arrested in Staten Island on assault and criminal mischief charges

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested late Tuesday night in Staten Island and charged with assault and criminal mischief, police said.

According to the NYPD, Alisa Selbes, a 31-year-old police officer, was taken into custody at approximately 11:35 p.m. within the confines of the 122nd Precinct.

Selbes is facing charges of assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. The details of the incident leading to her arrest have not been released.

The arrest occurred while Selbes was off duty. Authorities have not confirmed whether the incident involved another member of the NYPD or if it stemmed from a domestic or civilian dispute.

NYPD officials have not commented on the officer’s current duty status following the arrest.
