Elderly woman latest victim of nyc snatch and grab robbers

QUEENS, N.Y. — The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect connected to a chain-snatching robbery that occurred Thursday evening in the 108th Precinct.

Police said the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. in front of 48-41 48th Street, where a 61-year-old woman was approached from behind by an unidentified individual. The suspect forcibly removed a chain from the woman’s neck and made verbal threats during the encounter.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot, heading northbound along 48th Street, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Surveillance footage and photos of the suspect have been released as part of the investigation. The individual remains at large.

“The individual then forcibly removed the victim’s chain from her neck and threatened the victim,” police said in a statement.

The 108th Precinct, which covers parts of Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside, is handling the investigation.

The suspect’s image was captured on video as the NYPD intensifies efforts to locate the individual responsible for the daytime robbery.
