Rain, storms expected to soak Jersey Shore through Friday

Patchy fog and afternoon storms are expected to continue along the coast as the Jersey Shore enters a second straight day of wet summer weather.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Rainy conditions are forecast to continue along the Jersey Shore today and into Friday, with scattered thunderstorms and patchy fog adding to the damp stretch of weather.

Thursday’s forecast calls for a 70% chance of precipitation, with showers and thunderstorms likely developing by early afternoon. The heaviest rainfall is expected between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., with totals ranging from a quarter to a half inch. Early morning fog is expected to clear by 9 a.m., with temperatures reaching a high near 83°F and winds shifting from the west to southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight, skies will remain cloudy with patchy fog developing after 2 a.m. There’s a 20% chance of light showers or a thunderstorm before midnight. Overnight lows will settle around 70°F, with southeast winds continuing.

Friday will bring another round of unsettled weather, with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after 2 p.m. Morning fog may reduce visibility early, clearing by mid-morning. The high will reach near 86°F, under mostly cloudy skies and a steady southeast breeze.
