DC man arrested in April shooting death on Knox Place

WASHINGTON, DC – Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the April shooting that killed a 22-year-old in Southeast Washington, the Metropolitan Police Department announced Monday.

On April 22, officers from the Seventh District were called to the 2900 block of Knox Place SE around 6:40 p.m. for reports of gunfire. Responding officers found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Dar’Juan McRoy of Southeast D.C.

Following an investigation, MPD obtained an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Tarik Settles, also of Southeast. On August 14, members of the Capital Area Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Settles.

He has been charged with first-degree murder while armed (premeditated).
