Gentle brindle pup Smoki waits for forever home at Northern Ocean County shelter

JACKSON, NJ — At just 3 years old, Smoki has all the qualities of a perfect companion — calm, gentle, and eager for affection — yet this brindle-coated pup continues to watch other dogs find homes while he waits at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility.

Shelter staff describe Smoki as a quiet and easygoing dog who walks well on a leash, enjoys trail hikes, and loves games of fetch. Despite his playful side, he is laid-back for his age and has shown no resource-guarding behavior during assessments.

Smoki is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccinations. Staff believe the main reason he has not been adopted is that he must be the only pet in the household.

The shelter says he would make a loyal companion for someone seeking a one-on-one bond with a dog.

Smoki and many other dogs are available for adoption at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Avenue in Jackson. The shelter is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m.
