BROOKLYN, NY – A pair of impostors disguised as NYCHA employees stormed a Brooklyn residential building Monday morning, flashing firearms and making off with $7,000 in cash and a staggering $200,000 worth of jewelry, police said.
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:45 a.m. near Sutter Avenue and Euclid Avenue, when two unidentified individuals gained entry to the building by falsely identifying themselves as housing authority workers. Once inside, they confronted a 25-year-old female resident and displayed firearms, demanding valuables.
The armed suspects then ransacked the premises, seizing roughly $7,000 in cash and high-end jewelry valued at around $200,000. After the robbery, the suspects fled the location on foot in an unknown direction.
The victim was not injured during the incident and refused medical attention.
Police have released a description of one of the suspects, who was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt and green sweatpants. No further identifying details were immediately available, and no arrests have been made.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the area as they work to identify and locate the suspects. The incident is being investigated as a gunpoint robbery and home invasion.
