Schenectady, NY – A grim discovery was made Sunday afternoon when a body was found floating in the Mohawk River near Rivers Casino, drawing a large law enforcement response.

The Schenectady Police Department said a 911 call came in around 1:40 p.m. reporting what appeared to be a body in the water. Officers, joined by the New York State Police, Scotia Fire Department and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, worked together to recover the remains of a deceased male.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s name or any details on how long he may have been in the river.
