Wilkes-Barre man wanted after alleged strangulation and assault in domestic dispute
WILKES-BARRE, PA — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 19-year-old man accused of assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute on South Empire Street Thursday evening.
Officers were called to the residence around 5:09 p.m. on October 2 after receiving a report of a disturbance. The 19-year-old victim told officers she and the suspect, identified as Haneef Adams of Wilkes-Barre, argued over an iPad.
According to police, the dispute escalated when Adams allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a closed fist before placing his hands around her neck, restricting her breathing. The victim also reported that Adams took her cellphone before fleeing the residence.
Following the investigation, police obtained a warrant for Adams’ arrest on charges connected to the reported assault and strangulation.
The victim’s injuries have not been disclosed. The case remains under investigation.
