Faith and Blue initiative strengthens community ties

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department joined forces with Congregation Kol Shalom and Rabbi Faith Cantor this week to foster relations between local law enforcement and faith-based organizations. Officers and Troopers from the Maryland State Police participated in an event celebrating Sukkot, sharing a meal under a Sukkah on site.

“We had such a fantastic time meeting members of the congregation and strengthening the bonds within our community,” the department stated. The initiative emphasizes collaboration to enhance understanding and partnership between police and community members.

The event highlighted the importance of unity during the Sukkot celebration, with participants sharing in both the meal and discussions about enhancing community connections. The police department noted that this collaborative effort promotes understanding between local law enforcement and faith communities.

The weekend activities are part of the ongoing Faith and Blue initiative, which aims to build stronger relationships within various communities across the nation.

Upcoming events related to the initiative will be posted on the department’s social media platforms, including Facebook, X, and Instagram. Community members are encouraged to stay informed of these events as part of the effort to solidify relationships between law enforcement and local congregations.

With continued support, participants expressed hope for lasting partnerships moving forward. “Wishing everyone a joyful rest of the holiday,” the department said in their message.

The Faith and Blue initiative continues to foster dialogue and understanding between law enforcement and the community.
