Scratch-off surprise nets Maryland man $100K

Glen Burnie fisherman hooks $100,000 win on holiday scratch-off ticket

Glen Burnie, MD — A Glen Burnie construction worker and fisherman landed a top prize from the Maryland Lottery after scratching off a $100,000 win on the Silver Bell Bucks holiday scratch-off game.

The Anne Arundel County resident purchased the $10 ticket at Honey Bee Liquors, located at 7509 Ritchie Highway. Like many scratch-off players, he scratched only the numbers first and held off revealing the prize amounts. The first number he matched revealed a $10,000 win, and he stopped scratching until he returned home.

Once back at home, he uncovered the rest of the prize boxes and revealed that each of the 10 matching numbers was worth $10,000, giving him a total prize of $100,000.

The winner, who works in construction and enjoys fishing in his free time, said he plans to use the prize to fund home improvement projects.

The Silver Bell Bucks game launched on October 17 as part of the Maryland Lottery’s holiday scratch-off series. The ticket the Glen Burnie man purchased was the first top-prize winner claimed from the game. Four more $100,000 prizes remain unclaimed, along with thousands of lower-tier prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.

Honey Bee Liquors will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Players who don’t win instantly can still enter eligible holiday scratch-offs and FAST PLAY tickets into the My Lottery Rewards second-chance promotion for a chance to win prizes ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 or one of six Cash and Dash Shopping Sprees.
